Treasurer - Meghan Murtha

I am a second year law student in the English Common Law program. Before coming to law school I completed a BA and an MA in Political Science. I love being involved with the law & tech community at the Faculty of Law because it allows me to learn about innovative and cutting-edge developments in technology, as well as legal responses to technological and societal changes. This year I’m in charge of the budget and it would be great to hear your suggestions about how we can raise more money to put on lots of fun law & tech events.

Events Coordinator - Bridget McIlveen

Bridget is a second-year student in the English Common Law Program at the University of Ottawa. Prior to law school, she completed an Honours BA in Communication Studies and Multimedia at McMaster University. Her interests in law and technology are broad and include Internet regulation, broadcasting, human rights and privacy.

Academic Coordinator - Pierre-Marc Gendron

I am a second year student in the French common law program. Prior to law school, I studied commerce at Concordia University in Montreal. I am interested the interaction of technology and law because technology now plays a dominant role in our daily lives and the problems it might create are new to the judicial system. I’m attracted by e-commerce regulation, copyright/trademarks, taxation and corporate law. Outside the LTSS, I’m involved, amongst other things, with CIPPIC (cippic.ca) and I do pro bono work with Beyond Borders, an organization that advances the rights of children (beyondborders.org). This year, I invite you to get involved with the LTSS, come to our events, you’ll meet new friends and who knows, you might learn a thing or two. Feel free to stop me in the corridors if you have some questions about the LTSS.

Mélanie is a first year common law student in the French program. She graduated in June 2006 from the University of Alberta with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Political Science. Technology is in constant motion and it is only natural to apply the law in order to help resolve the many issues emerging from this dynamic field of study. Though I am a newcomer to LTSS, I am motivated to learn more about how technology influences our right to privacy, our environment and our workforce. I look forward to being the voice of the first year French common law students.
